Conclave Video Editor

About This Position

The Video Editor for the Section G16 Conclave Communications Committee is a skilled visual storyteller responsible for transforming raw video footage captured by the videography team into engaging and polished video content for use during and after the 2025 conclave. This role involves creatively assembling footage, adding visual and audio elements, and ensuring the final videos effectively communicate the story and highlights of the event across various platforms.

Reports to: Conclave Comms Operations Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Video Footage Ingest and Organization: Efficiently receive, organize, and manage video footage from various videographers.
  • Creative Video Editing: Skillfully edit and assemble raw footage into compelling video narratives, highlighting key moments, stories, and the overall atmosphere of the conclave.
  • Incorporating Visual Elements: Add graphics, text overlays, lower thirds, and other visual elements to enhance the clarity and engagement of the videos.
  • Audio Mixing and Sweetening: Integrate and balance audio elements, including music, sound effects, and dialogue, to create a professional and immersive viewing experience.
  • Color Correction and Grading: Perform color correction and basic color grading to ensure visual consistency and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the videos.
  • Ensuring Smooth Transitions and Pacing: Utilize appropriate video transitions and adjust pacing to create a seamless and engaging flow.
  • Collaboration with Communications Team: Work closely with the Operations Lead and other content creators to understand the objectives and target audience for each video project.
  • Meeting Deadlines: Manage time effectively to ensure video projects are completed and delivered according to established timelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate strong technical skills in video editing software.
  • Review and Revision: Incorporate feedback from the communications team and make necessary revisions to video projects.
  • Creating Platform-Specific Content: Edit videos optimized for different social media platforms (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube) and potentially longer-form content.
  • Archiving Project Files: Maintain organized project files and ensure proper backup of all video assets.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Issues: Address any technical challenges that may arise during the editing process.
  • Staying Updated on Trends: Keep abreast of current video editing techniques and trends to create fresh and engaging content.
  • Adherence to Conclave and Section Guidelines: Ensure all communication activities align with the conclave code of conduct, Section G16 brand and style guidelines, and the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Other Duties: Completes other duties as assigned by the Key Lead or Operations Manager.
 
This position requires attendance at the 2025 Section G16 Conclave.
