Conclave Day-in-Review Videographer

About This Position

The Day-In-Review Videographer for the Section G16 Conclave Communications Committee is a key visual storyteller responsible for capturing compelling video footage throughout the 2025 conclave. Focusing specifically on content for the Saturday night weekend review video, this individual will actively document the day’s key events, activities, and atmosphere, providing the essential visual building blocks for a memorable recap of the conclave experience.

Reports to: Conclave Comms Operations Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Targeted Video Capture: Focus on capturing a diverse range of high-quality video shots that effectively highlight the key events, activities, and overall atmosphere of each day of the conclave.
  • Weekend Review Focus: Understand the purpose and style of the weekend review video and ensure captured footage aligns with this objective.
  • Event Coverage: Film significant moments, presentations, workshops, ceremonies, and participant interactions as directed by the communications team.
  • B-Roll Acquisition: Capture ample “B-roll” footage (supplementary shots) to provide visual context and enhance the storytelling in the final weekend review video.
  • Variety of Shots: Obtain a variety of shot types, including wide shots, medium shots, close-ups, and potentially panning or tracking shots, to provide editing flexibility.
  • Audio Considerations: Capture clear and usable ambient audio when relevant to the visuals being recorded.
  • Collaboration with Team: Coordinate with photographers and other videographers to ensure comprehensive visual coverage of the event and avoid duplication of effort.
  • Adherence to Schedule: Follow the event schedule and be present at key locations to capture important moments.
  • Quick Handoff (If Required): Be prepared to transfer footage to the video editing team in a timely manner.
  • Storytelling Vision: Understand the overarching narrative of the conclave and capture footage that contributes to telling that story in the weekend review video.
  • Proactive Approach: Anticipate key moments and position oneself strategically to capture the best possible footage.
  • Following Directives: Take direction from the Communications Committee leadership regarding specific shots or events to prioritize.
  • Adherence to Conclave and Section Guidelines: Ensure all communication activities align with the conclave code of conduct, Section G16 brand and style guidelines, and the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Other Duties: Completes other duties as assigned by the Key Lead or Operations Manager.
 
It is preferred if volunteers for this position have their own video equipment.
 
This position requires attendance at the 2025 Section G16 Conclave.
