Conclave Content Writer

About This Position

The Content Writer for the Section G16 Conclave Communications Committee is responsible for crafting compelling written content for various section publications to effectively tell the story of the 2025 conclave. This role involves creating engaging narratives, informative pieces, and descriptive text that captures the essence of the event, highlights key moments, and resonates with the target audience across different communication channels.

Reports to: Conclave Comms Operations Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing Written Content: Create a variety of written materials, including social media captions, website updates, blog posts, newsletter articles, press releases, and potentially scripts or outlines for video content.
  • Storytelling: Craft engaging and compelling narratives that effectively communicate the key events, themes, and impact of the conclave.
  • Capturing the Conclave Voice: Develop a writing style that aligns with the section’s brand and captures the tone and spirit of the conclave.
  • Research and Information Gathering: Gather necessary information about conclave events, speakers, attendees, and key highlights through interviews, notes, and collaboration with other committee members.
  • Adapting Writing Style: Tailor writing style and tone to suit different platforms and target audiences.
  • Collaboration with Visual Team: Work closely with photographers and videographers to integrate written content with visual media, creating a cohesive and impactful story.
  • Fact-Checking and Accuracy: Ensure all written content is accurate, well-researched, and adheres to any established guidelines.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit written content for clarity, grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Meeting Deadlines: Manage time effectively to ensure content is created and delivered according to established timelines.
  • Understanding Target Audience: Develop content that resonates with the intended audience, whether it’s conclave attendees, prospective members, or the wider community.
  • Brainstorming and Idea Generation: Contribute creative ideas for content that will effectively tell the conclave story.
  • Incorporating Feedback: Revise and refine written content based on feedback from the communications team.
  • Writing for Different Formats: Create content suitable for various formats, including short-form social media posts and longer-form articles.
  • Adherence to Conclave and Section Guidelines: Ensure all communication activities align with the conclave code of conduct, Section G16 brand and style guidelines, and the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Other Duties: Completes other duties as assigned by the Key Lead or Operations Manager.
 
This position requires attendance at the 2025 Section G16 Conclave.
