Council of Chiefs

The conclave vice chiefs (CVCs) are the youth responsible for executing different aspects of the conclave program. Here is a quick introduction to the people who make conclave happen!

Activities Committee

The conclave activities committee is responsible for creating and executing a diverse and enjoyable program of activities for conclave participants. Their duties encompass the entire lifecycle of these events, from initial development and scheduling to managing the necessary logistics, including supplies, space allocation, and volunteer coordination. The committee also focuses on promoting engagement across a broad spectrum of interests and ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and accessible manner. Throughout the event, they will supervise activity staff and volunteers and maintain open communication with the COC by providing pertinent updates and information.

Ethan P.

Activities Conclave Vice Chief

Ethan is an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member from Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge in the Portland area. In the past he has served as chapter chief and senior patrol leader in his unit, and he currently holds a lodge programs vice chief position and staffs at summer camp. In addition, he has attended NYLT and NLS. Outside of Scouting, Ethan studies in high school and chairs on the Oregon Model United Nations Committee, and in his free time he enjoys backpacking, hiking, and repairing Coleman appliances. This year Ethan is excited for conclave and the summer camp season!

Activities Adviser

Admonition Committee

The admonition committee is responsible for ensuring a safe, and inclusive environment open to all at conclave. They communicate with other event staff to maintain inclusive principles throughout conclave activities, program, and training. In addition, they work with the Host Lodge CVC to ensure all additional needs of Arrowmen (such as housing with access to power, CPAP machines, or wheelchair-accessible entrances) are met. The committee also works with the other CVCs to provide diverse program, training, and events to allow opportunities for all Arrowmen, and will keep the COC informed about important information.

Violet H.

Admonition Conclave Vice Chief

Violet is a Life Scout and Brotherhood member from Tsisqan Lodge, residing in Roseburg, OR. In the past she has served as chapter chief, chapter membership vice chief, and senior patrol leader in her unit. At present, she is the Tsisqan Lodge membership vice chief, staffs at Camp Baker, and is a member of the Scouts BSA National Youth Council. In addition, Violet has attended NYLT and NLS, and has earned the National Outdoor Achievement Award for camping. Outside of Scouting, Violet attends high school with plans to eventually work for the U.S. Forest Service. She enjoys basketball, theater, biking, and discus, and is excited to attend events throughout the section!

John Ogle

Admonition Adviser

Auction & Merchandising Committee

The auction & merchandising committee is responsible for planning and organizing all merchandise booths and auction activities at conclave. Their duties include coordinating with vendors to acquire items for both sale and auction, developing and maintaining an effective inventory management system, and setting pricing for all merchandise and auction offerings. In the weeks leading up to conclave, the committee promotes the auction and merchandise to participants to build interest and engagement. During the event, they will manage on-site auction operations, ensuring that all sales are accurately documented and handled efficiently. The committee also oversees volunteer teams assisting with merchandise and auction logistics, and will keep the COC informed of all relevant updates.

Mason is a Life Scout and Brotherhood member from Lo La’Qam Geela Lodge, residing in Bend, OR. Previously, he has served as chapter chief and senior patrol leader. Mason is an NYLT participant and currently serves in his troop as chaplain’s aide. Outside of Scouting, Mason attends Trinity Lutheran High School and participates in the varsity swimming team. He enjoys nature with backpacking, hiking, and camping, and this year he is looking forward to helping his lodge even more!

The Section G16 Communications Committee is a year-round committee responsible for all aspects of the section’s communications and technology systems including all content, publications, branding, promotions, and technical support for the Council of Chiefs.

Reece L.

Communications Team Lead

Reece is a Brotherhood member of Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge residing in the Portland area. Previously, Reece has served as chapter chief, lodge membership vice chief, 2023 Activities conclave vice chief, and has served in several chairmanships and chapter vice chief roles. Reece most recently served as the written content lead for the section comms team last year. In 2023, Reece was awarded the Lodge Service Award from his lodge for his work as the College of Youth Leadership Chairman.

Outside of Scouting, Reece enjoys fencing, reading classic literature, writing, debating, learning languages, researching French history, and is an avid opera enthusiast.

Host Lodge Committee

The Host Lodge CVC is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of the event venue during conclave. This includes overseeing room assignments, signage, and facility-related logistics to ensure a well-organized and welcoming environment. The committee ensures that food services are properly planned, prepared, and served on schedule, including meeting dietary restrictions. They manage staffing needs by recruiting and assigning volunteers or staff, and work closely with conclave leadership to develop a comprehensive staffing plan that supports smooth operations throughout the event. The committee is also tasked with maintaining cleanliness and order in all event spaces. In addition, they coordinate with vendors and service providers to handle logistics professionally and efficiently, and serve as the primary point of contact for any facility-related issues. The host lodge committee monitors the safety and comfort of all participants, collaborating with security and safety personnel as needed. Throughout the event, they will facilitate clear communication between the host lodge the COC to stay updated on all developments.

Host Lodge Conclave Vice Chief

Nathan is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge from Portland, OR. In the past he has served as lodge chief, programs vice chief, and awards chair. He was awarded the Lodge Service Award from his lodge, and currently serves on the section comms team. Outside of Scouting, Nathan is a lifeguard and swimming instructor, competes in martial arts, and is wrapping up high school. Nathan enjoys music and camping, and he is looking forward to beginning college and eventually joining the military.

Shows Committee

The shows committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the opening gathering and the Saturday night show at conclave. They ensure that each production aligns with the overall conclave theme and message, while also maintaining a high standard of content and presentation. The committee oversees all aspects of both shows, including scripting, timing, and coordination with any performers or technical crews involved. Throughout the planning and execution process, the shows committee keeps the COC informed of all important and relevant developments.

Shows Conclave Vice Chief

Andrew is a Life Scout and Brotherhood member from Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge, residing in the Portland area. Previously he has been the lodge communications vice chief, chapter ceremonies vice chief, and Shows CVC. He is an NLS participant and is also serving on the section comms team as the Brand and Design lead. Aside from Scouting, Andrew enjoys boxing and powerlifting, history, cars, and cooking. He currently studies at the Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering, with the plan to eventually become a financial adviser.

Special Events Committee

The special events committee is responsible for planning and organizing key conclave activities such as the VIA luncheon, the conclave-wide game, and the meet-the-candidate event. They oversee the VIA program to ensure that all new Arrowmen feel welcomed and have a meaningful and enjoyable experience. The committee ensures that all special events align with the values of the Order of the Arrow and support the overall conclave theme. Their responsibilities include managing event logistics—such as scheduling, venue arrangements, and any unique requirements—and collaborating with other conclave committees to ensure these events are smoothly integrated into the broader conclave program. Additionally, the committee will promote special events to attendees and manages communication related to these activities. Throughout their planning and execution, they keep the COC informed of all important and relevant updates.

Special Events Conclave Vice Chief

Emily is a Life Scout and Brotherhood member from Tsisqan Lodge residing in Albany, OR. In the past she has served as chapter chief and council Rendezvous OA chair, and she currently serves as lodge service vice chief, a member of the Tsisqan / Lo La’Qam Geela merger committee, and senior patrol leader in her unit. Outside of Scouting, Emily enjoys entomology, forestry, backpacking, painting, and learning new things. She studies at the Long Beach City College for her high school diploma and Associate’s degree. This year Emily is excited to spend more time outdoors by hiking and backpacking.

Special Events Adviser

Training Committee

The training committee is responsible for coordinating a variety of high-quality training sessions at conclave, covering a broad range of topics relevant to Arrowmen. They recruit and organize trainers and facilitators for each session, ensuring that the content is interactive, engaging, and aligned with the mission and values of the Order of the Arrow as well as the overall conclave theme. The committee promotes the training schedule to attendees and encourages widespread participation. They also manage all logistical aspects of the training program, including securing materials, arranging session locations, and addressing staffing needs. The training committee will be flexible and responsive, adapting sessions as needed to meet the evolving interests and needs of participants. They will keep the COC updated on all changes and developments.

Training Conclave Vice Chief

Vy is a Life Scout and Brotherhood member from Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge, residing in Portland, OR. Previously, she has staffed at Camp Meriwether, been senior patrol leader for her unit, and helped at numerous lodge events. She currently serves as lodge membership vice chief, continues to staff at Camp Meriwether as a lifeguard, and is the Social Media lead of the section comms team. Aside from Scouting, Vy is finishing high school with plans to go to Oregon State University and study economics. She enjoys learning Vietnamese, participating in choir, tutoring, swimming, piano, and caring for houseplants. This year she is looking forward to attending college and having fun!
