Last month, members of Section G16 met at the wonderful Camp Meriwether for the annual conclave! The theme this year: Raiders of the Lost Arrow. The weekend was filled with great activities, engaging classes, and was a blast for all! Here is everything that happened.
Friday night was one to remember! The participants went down to the beach for volleyball, playing in the sand, socializing, and of course, music! All the while snacks and drinks were being provided. The great location provided itself to a beautiful Meriwether sunset over the water, and the night ended conclusively on a high note as a dance party commenced – bringing the whole section together in fellowship!
In the morning, the three lodges met together for individual lodge gatherings, then the section dispersed to a variety of fun hands-on trainings: woodcarving, hammocks, patch trading, creative journaling, paracord bracelets, dutch oven cooking, soap making, and many more! More informational classes were given to help participants with communication, safety, ceremonies, and knife care, just to name a few. There were so many classes, it’s almost easier to list what wasn’t there! All in all, the morning was well spent with meeting new people and learning new skills.
After a filling lunch, the day was filled with what everybody especially looks forward to: the activities! There were many fun things to do, including an obstacle course, slip and slide, jenga, an escape room, sandcastle building, volleyball, and tie dye. In addition, the ranges, climbing tower, and waterfront were open to all participants, giving conclave a taste of summer camp! Cotton candy, popcorn, slushies, and ice cream were provided as the icing on the cake. Throughout the day, Arrowmen were challenged by the spirit award to attend classes, have fun in activities, and meet new friends, among other requirements. This made conclave more engaging for those who like to try new things.
Of course, one very important part of conclave is electing the section leadership for the next year. At this conclave, the members of Section G16 reelected all three officers to their previous positions. Congratulations to Anson Fleck, Hannah McCullough, and Reece Lewallen for their reelections! We can’t wait to see what you will accomplish this next year.
The Saturday night show was a funny and thought-provoking time, with a great Indiana Jones parody theme show, and a powerful keynote from Haley Flores. It really helped to process the time that we had, filled with laughs and brotherhood. The night concluded with an interlodge brotherhood ceremony, bringing more members into a life of cheerful service. The ceremony reflected a truth indicative of the entire weekend: we are all together as a united section, and the fellowship that brings is invaluable.
